Saturday 11th May: All the brands taking part in our Hoxton Hotel market in Southwark

After a successful event there last year which saw hundreds of you shopping small in luxurious surroundings, we’re thrilled that we’re going to be hosting another market at The Hoxton Hotel in Southwark this spring. We’ll be popping up there on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May with an ultra curated edit of 60 makers (30 different brands each day) and small businesses all focused around sustainable and vintage fashion. From one-of-a-kind dresses to vintage jewellery and handmade handbags, the market will include everything you need to refresh your wardrobe for spring and beyond, plus lots of other gorgeous accessories and homeware too. And we’re buzzing that lots of the brands will have exclusive new things for the day. See, touch, and try on unique handmade fashion, jewellery and more all in one central London location (and there’s a rooftop bar there for a drink when you’re done shopping!)

Fashion

NEW! Kakazi Studio: Kakazi Studio creates limited edition fashion and homeware pieces using a mixture of premium end-of-roll fabrics and handcrafted materials that celebrate different parts of Africa. The results are spellbinding! Growing up between the UK and Uganda, Nabisere gained a unique perspective on the complexities of belonging and identity, and after graduating from Central St Martins she created KAKAZI in part to celebrate complex identities from the African and Caribbean diaspora. Made in Tottenham, these spectacular pieces not only shine because of their stunning fabric combinations and striking silhouettes but also because they’re made ethically here in the city.

NEW! Cara Mia May: Lifestyle brand Cara Mia May is May’s love letter to Italian craftsmanship, hospitality and tradition! It all began with her first visit to Puglia in a 16th century farmhouse, where she found vintage pyjamas nicely folded on her bed with a handwritten note saying "Dear May, I hope you feel at home." Translating that warm feeling of generous Italian hospitality and beautiful craftsmanship, Cara Mia May creates the most stunnnnnnnning pyjamas all made with local artisans to keep the country’s unique traditions alive. These premium pyjamas are made using 100% fine cotton that feels silky soft complete with detailed embroidered flower petals and mother-of-pearl buttons. Divine.

Batch 1: Independent and sustainable streetwear! These organic cotton tees are designed and printed with original graphics in London by designer and founder Rodney using only water-based and environmentally friendly inks. Designs feature celebrations of much loved foodie classics, like the humble fish finger sarnie, salt beef bagel, hot sauce and, it wouldn’t be South London without mention of fried chicken too. Shop the collection of tees and sweats in sizes XS-XXL from Β£25 at our market.

Elizabeth An’Marie: Elizabeth An’Marie is a slow fashion brand that’s well known in the space for designing the most characterful, playful and unique knitwear pieces ever seen. Featuring founder Shelby’s iconic smiley-face designs, and her instantly recognisable colour combinations that perfectly balance the line between acid-electric and cute pastels. Taking traditional knitwear and turning it 180 on it’s head, Shelby is bringing new life to an age-old craft, and that’s exactly what our market is all about! Every item is handmade, using merino yarn, 100% cotton or deadstock fabric in South London baby!

The Daydreamer: Bella is so well known in the small biz world for her beautiful size inclusive fashion so we’re really proud to welcome her back to our market. Because she handmakes each piece in South London, she can tailor the sizes to fit you meaning you can feel absolutely drop dead gorgeous in something that fits like a glove! Plus her regular size range spans from 3XS - 4XL anyway. Thrillingly she’ll have a brand new and exclusive colourway of her bestselling Mojito dress available exclusively for the market, in an excellent hot pink!!

Monobrow Shop: Monobrow is a slow fashion business, founded by mother-daughter duo Angela and Zani. Inspired by Zani’s background as an artist, Angela’s experiences travelling around the world, and a shared love for artist Frida Kahlo, the duo started designing unique clothing that was loud, bold and, most importantly colourful. They knew these statement items wouldn’t be everyones cup of tea, but they wanted to stay faithful to their own personal style, and I think that shines through so beautifully in everything they do! Pieces can be made-to-order and are customisable so all bodies are welcome, which is something that’s so important to us. Come down to our next market to try new pieces on!

Saundra O’Shea: I just LOVE this woman’s energy so much. Following her recovery from an aggressive form of breast cancer, looking for a creative outlet, Saundra booked in to a workshop to learn how to make a cushion cover. That workshop ignited a creative spark inside of her she’d long forgotten about & after years of practice & designing she’s now realised a childhood dream to have her very own fashion brand. Influenced by the past with a nostalgic nod to the 1970s, Saundra reworks existing materials to create fuss-free, beautiful & comfortable items that are totally one of a kind.

Simply choose your favourite shirt from their curated edit of options, then decide what you want embroidered onto it! Done in minutes, it’ll be ready for you to take home on the day (or even change into then and there) The monogrammed cuffs are right up our street.

These are the kinds of truly one-of-a-kind finds you won’t get anywhere else! It’s no wonder the brand is loved by Laura Whitmore and Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly.

Studio Spokes: The perfect handmade lil tops and dresses for your summer holidays! Working as a fashion designer in her previous day job, Tash at Studio Spokes now brings all her expertise, skill and knowledge to her own small brand, providing you with beautiful handmade pieces in timeless shapes. Starting from Β£75 these beauties are all totally designed and handmade by Tash in London. Each one totally unique featuring cute kitch designs, because these tops were once tea towels! It’s no wonder these beauties have totally blown up online, Tash can hardly keep them in stock! This is a unique chance to try things on, choose your fabrics and shop IRL, so don’t miss out!

Aff & Jam: Founders Kelesi and Jaymie have a magical aura that draws me in every single time! They’re so lovely and so gorgeous and so talented, and as well as all that they create the most original, cool and sustainable fashion pieces together. One part African (Aff) and one part Jamaican (Jam) the pair’s roots not only formed the name of their label, but are a profound part of their personal and brand identity too, and something they continue to explore throughout their work, creating wearable art by hand-painting vintage and recycled items with their signature line drawings. I recently picked up a cute Summer dress from the pair and I can’t wait to wear it all Summer long!

Aftercare Apparel: Stitching new life into old clothes with tattoo inspired designs. Founder Dora trawls through local charity shops to find classic quality pieces like oversized white shirts and denim jackets that she can finish with her magical touch. Using a simple needle and thread, each embroidery is completed by hand with little crying faces, spiders webs, flaming hearts and smiley stars. Each is totally one-of-a-kind, telling a little imagined story. I’ve never seen anything quite like these before, I just think they’re so original, cool and sustainable, and that’s what we always want you to be able to discover on market day. Prices start from just Β£15 too.

Handbags & Accessories

NEW! Scrunch by Stais: It wouldn’t be a good market day without the cutest most colourful frilly and chubby scrunchies for you to treat yourself to! So we’re absolutely chuffed and buzzing to welcome Scrunch By Stais to Salad Days for the very first time. Entirely handmade by maker Anastasia, these gorgeous hair accessories can be yours from just Β£15. Studio Kyodai: The iconic must-have handbag in the small-business world, available to shop at our market inside The Hoxton on 11th May! Designer Scarlett uses deadstock leathers and biodegradable fabrics to cut her beautiful bags from, each one crafted by hand in her London studio. This one-woman business does it all herself alongside a full time job, and even uses her scraps to create cardholders from too. Exclusively for the market, Scarlett is launching her brand new designs which we can’t wait to see! They’ll undoubtedly become cult classics just like her other pieces.

Jewellery

NEW! Nathalie Cherry: Inspired by a passion for painting and drawing, maker Nathalie began experimenting with jewellery making and quickly fell in love with the meticulous process of carving wax. Witnessing the magic of casting became a profound ritual, infusing each piece with a sense of authenticity and personal connection. The brand itself is named after Nathalie’s nan, Cherry (who’s personality and sense of style inspire her) and every piece is designed to be attention-grabbing and most importantly fun to wear. Empowering the wearer to celebrate their own self-expression, feel confident and imbue them with a playful spirit! Shop the collection at our next market inside The Hoxton!

NEW! Goldstone Jewellery: Jeweller Lauren spent holidays as a child in her family’s native South Africa, gathering treasures and collecting gemstones to bring home! She was fascinated by the organic forms, one-of-a-kind structures and hypnotic colours. Largely self-taught, Lauren now designs and crafts her very own pieces of jewellery featuring the most heavenly gemstones and luscious organic shapes that make every piece feel full of personality and character. Especially for market day Lauren will be showcasing lots of new pieces in both solid gold and gold plated.

NEW! Katya Lena: For those looking for something off-beat and very unique, we’re so excited to present the work of jeweller and artist Katya Lena, who’s gorgeous pieces are an extension of a wider art practice inspired by badges, symbolism and surrealism. Katya works in both silver and pewter (for those on a tighter budget, pieces start from just Β£15 for a Lover’s Token hairclip, which also happen to be my favourite item in the collection!) and Katya completes both by hand, casting the pewter in soapstone moulds that she carves herself, and the silver is made using the ancient process of lost wax carving. We’re so proud to welcome this talented maker to our market!

NEW! Studio Sael: Brand new to the market! β€˜Sael’ from the Old Norse word for joyfulness, really couldn’t describe this gorgeous jewellery any better. Handmade by Kitty for happy moments, from recycled silver, ethically sourced gems and glass beads, these fun but minimal forms are they perfect small delights for your pal, partner or self!

Kitty Joyas: Responsibly handmade in South London from recycled metals, Kitty’s heavenly jewellery showcases the traditional (and difficult to master) technique of enamel, which allows her to create rainbow coloured designs you won’t find anywhere else. Her everyday pieces are designed to intrigue and bring joy, with romantic and pretty shapes like hearts, flowers and swirls alongside more classic shapes. Kitty is one of my favourite London jewellers and I’m so proud to showcase her work at our next market!

Mikaela Lyons: I’m so pleased to introduce you to the wonderful jewellery of Mikaela Lyons. You’ll notice a lot of Mikaela’s designs feature her iconic lioness head. The animal inspired her first collection in 2017, a symbol of strength, identity and equality, a reminder of her choice to keep her maiden name β€˜Lyons’ after she got married. The bestselling icon remains just as important today as it was then! Each of her pieces is responsibly and lovingly made in England, meaning when you shop with her you’re helping to support traditional crafts. You’re voting for ethical, sustainable production, and original design. Plus Mikaela will be travelling all the way from up North to trade with us, so it’s the perfect chance to try things on and treat yourself while she’s here in the capital.

Skincare & Beauty

Black Market: I was asked recently what I think the most exciting offering we have at the market is, and without hesitation I answered that it’s the brands who are focused on solving the problem of plastic waste that I feel so inspired by. Blackmarket is a refillable liquid hand-wash that removes the need for you to buy single-use plastic packaging completely. Simply purchase the glass vessel and soap refill sticks, and combine the two with tap water, voila! Traditional soap refills from other brands come in large plastic sachets, replacing one piece of singe-use plastic for another. At Blackmarket, the sachet itself is part of the product (like your dishwasher tablet) dissolving in the soap to act as a thickener. So the only waste is the cardboard box which can be easily recycled. A work of true genius and available in a selection of house-made fragrances you’ll love.

Dibia Skin: Now the sunshine’s out, we’re planning summer holidays and wearing dresses again, I know you’ll be needing a moisturiser to keep your skin feeling supple, soft and well looked after so you can look your best all season long! Which is why we are so happy to share that Dibia is popping up inside The Hoxton with us. Dibia is the collection of deeply nourishing whipped body butters, handmade in small batches in London by founder Ike. Vegan, cruelty free and proudly Black owned, the formulation is made entirely from rich organic butters and oils that leave you feeling pampered and well moisturised! Naturally rich in vitamin A & E it also protects and regenerates the skin, helping to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks over time. The reviews on this speak for themselves.

Kidswear

Fifi and the Fleas: Fifi and the Fleas creates playful kidswear from preloved and deadstock fabrics with the cutest results! Maker Emilie creates each piece by hand in London, including her best-selling mini quilted jackets which are currently all sold out, making each piece truly unique, ethical and all the more special. If underwhelming kidswear options on the highstreet don’t do it for you, then come down and experience Emilie’s colourful world of multicoloured knits, patchwork, ginghams and ruffle frills at our next market! For ages 1-6 years.

Ceramics

NEW! Yuan Workshop: Perfectly balancing the line between functionally humble but beautiful designed, there is something incredibly poetic and artistic about ceramic artist Polly Liu’s work! Imbuing a breath of life to lifeless ceramics, these pieces are warm and comforting but so, so stylish. Connecting us to simple everyday acts through well thought out design. Shop the collection of handmade table and homeware at our next market inside The Hoxton, every piece special and one-of-a-kind.

Art, Prints & Paper Goods

Elustrates: If you want a special memento from market day, we’ve got just the thing! We’re so chuffed that wonderful artist Eleanor Joanna will be returning to our next market, offering super cute Live Portraits on the day. Simply sit for the artist for a few minutes and she will capture your likeness there and then! We always want to deliver you amazing value, exciting experiences and beautiful things! We think Eleanor ticks all three boxes!

Natalia Bagniewska: As seen in Liberty London and Anna + Nina, with a current exhibition inside The Hox Gallery. Sometimes I have to pinch myself that we get to work with such incredibly talented people like Natalia Bagniewska at Salad Days Market, and I really couldn’t feel more proud! Awash with giant strokes of colour and generous curvy shapes, established artist Natalia cleverly captures the little joys in every day life and happy moments in nature within her gorgeous work, sure to brighten up any space within your home. I predict the new Fanta Lemon will be a sell out on market day.

Flowers

NEW! A Penny for Florence: Take a bunch of fresh flowers home with you from the market! That’s right! The gorgeous Anna from A Penny for Florence will be there with us on both Saturday and Sunday putting together beautiful arrangements of fresh blooms for you to choose from. Known for her contemporary designs that use the most stunning seasonal blooms, she’s worked with the best of them including at London Fashion Week. On the day she’ll be offering on the spot bouquet creation and vase styling. What could be cuter?
